Well folks… I am heading full-tilt into a major life-changing experience. If all goes as planned, within a few weeks I will be having major surgery to patch some leaks in my skull. Prognosis is excellent, but recovery will be long and difficult.
This is not what I had planned for my mid-50s. And it’s certainly not what I had planned for this year, when I hoped to graduate seminary and launch into ministry full time.
For now, all plans are on hold. For the foreseeable future my full-time job will be to get well.
When I started this blog nearly six years ago my purpose was to write about the process of following God’s call on my life. This detour is now part of it.
It is not my intention to get into a lot of medical detail. If readers have questions I don’t mind answering, keeping in mind that my answers are very specific to my own situation and are probably not typical of anyone else’s experience. Besides, I promised myself in my younger days I would not become one of those old people who is forever sitting around discussing medical conditions!
That said, there are a lot of folks who are concerned and want updates. And I can’t possibly keep up with phone calls and emails and social media the way I would like to. So I’ll post updates and thoughts here.
Please keep us in your prayers. And feel free to email or call, understanding that I may not be able to get back to you right away.
Love to all.
