Change of Scene
God walked around my life a few times and then held out his hand said, “let there be Change.”
I stood up straighter and buttoned my sweater.
God shook his head.
I thought for a moment
and changed into a T-shirt that said
“Go Organic with God”.
He rolled his eyes.
I wrote an essay entitled
“Change as the Repositioning of the Mental Lexicon
so as to Include Distinctions Heretofore Unexamined”.
He sighed and gently pulled the rug out from under my feet.
I landed on my back, staring at the sky.
“Now,” He said, “enjoy the view.”
The above poem was forwarded to me by a close friend, written by a friend of her sister’s. I thought it was too good not to share.
That, and a comment from another member of the writer’s group: “That sure is the God that I know! He’s pulled the rug out from under me so many times I’m considering hardwood floors in my soul. But he’ll just wax them and make me wear new socks.”
